I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
Anddd the next room to reveal is the Master Bedroom!

The renovations in this main area of the Master Bedroom were mainly cosmetic – new paint, new carpet, new baseboards, new light fixture. I continued the gray and white theme in here, which I think is SO much brighter & better than the orange/brown vibes of the room when I bought the place!
After the cosmetic fixes were complete, I got to brainstorm about what I wanted to put on the walls!
I take a ton of pictures. Like, my phone literally has 20,000+ pictures on it right now… That being said, I wanted somewhere in my house that I could have a little gallery wall of a bunch of pictures of the people I love! There are a few companies that sell 4″ x 4″ printed photos with borders. But they’re all on the pricier side – so I decided to see if I could DIY it!
I printed 4” x 6” pictures at Walgreens (they’ve always got some sort of discount going for prints!) and trimmed them to 4” x 4”. Then, I stuck them onto white cardstock with a ¼” clearance on each side of the photo. After I had all the photos, I laid them out on my kitchen table and moved them around until the colors & composition of the photos worked together in a 6 picture by 6 picture pattern. To attach them to the wall, I used painter’s tape on the back on the cardstock. Voila!
The other DIY I did was for the wall over my bed. I perused Pinterest and found an example of something I liked – but again, something I didn’t want to spend big bucks for. To replicate it, I bought poster board & plastic frames at Target. I took a screenshot of the type of words I wanted in the frames, and printed each word out on an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper. After that, I taped the paper to the window so that I could roughly trace it in Sharpie onto the poster board. Then I trimmed the poster board to fit in the frames, and centered them on the wall above my headboard!
These are just 2 examples of DIY decor ideas. If you see something that you like on Pinterest or Instagram – most likely, there is a way that you can make something similar yourself and save some money! 🙂
After this, there is one final room reveal….and it’s my favorite. Keep your eyes peeled for the final reveal of #katieskondo, coming later this week!!
