I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
Most of the time, people’s reason for still having a messy closet is “it’s such a big project, I don’t even know where to start”. Girl, I get you!
So when I hear that reasoning, my first thought is: “then let’s make it NOT so big of a project!”
But how can we stop procrastinating & think of some ways to make the project more manageable?
Here are 4 tips to go from OVERWHELMED to FINISHED:
For me, this is usually 15-20 minutes. You can do a quick look over your whole closet during that time frame, or focus in on a specific section. If I’m just needing to thin out a few things, I’ll look over the whole closet. If I’m really needing a deep, thorough cleanout, I’ll take it 1 section at a time during the time frame.
I will often split the project into subjects, and do 1 subject per day. For example: jeans drawer on Monday, sweater drawer Tuesday, blouses Wednesday, etc.
There’s nothing telling you that you have to do the whole project in one day! Split it up over a few days or maybe 2 weekends in order to keep yourself on task & not overwhelmed by the size of the project.
This could be a family member, or ME! I’d love to come help you clean out & organize your closet. Head to the contact page of my website & fill out the contact form so that we can set up a date/time for your session. Sometimes you just need an outside person to help you finish the project in an organized & efficient manner (and provide a little encouragement along the way). 🙂
