OK, so how do you feel about skinny jeans and side parts? #controversial
.
I’ve had a few friends recently asked me for my opinion on the Gen Z telling us that “skinny jeans and side parts are out” thing… And let me say: I think it’s RIDICULOUS. Yes, certain denim silhouettes are more popular during certain times, but do you know what is a universally flattering denim silhouette? SKINNY JEANS. 🤯 I’m tellin’ ya; any body type can look good in skinny jeans. I have pairs of skinny jeans that I’ve had for YEARS because they are such a classic, flattering fit.
.
But regardless of that, I also don’t like that it’s even a question in the first place, because it implies that we’re making decisions for our personal style purely based on what other people think is “cool” which gives me horrible middle school flashbacks….😵 There is absolutely no reason that we should make our clothing decisions purely off if someone ELSE thing they are cool.
.
I recently wore a dress that I knew was considered “in fashion” and yet the whole night I was self conscious about how I looked in it and wondering if people thought I was cool enough to be wearing it. Let me tell you, that was not fun and I certainly didn’t feel confident in myself that night. I should have just stuck to my tried and true skinny jeans uniform that is classic “Katie” style. Because guess what: your personal style will stay relevant to you even ask what’s “in fashion” changes.
.
Girl, put on the jeans you feel most comfortable in and WERK IT, regardless of the style. It’s literally no more complicated than that, so let’s stop making it more complicated than that!! 👏🏻
