I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
Packing can be an overwhelming experience – here are a few questions to guide your thinking as you start:
A.k.a. how MUCH can you pack? This will impact the size of your bag & the importance (or non-importance) of having great mix-and-match outfit options so that you don’t overpack.
I mean, this is pretty self explanatory. If it’s cold, what layering pieces can you bring that work with all of your outfits?
What kinds of activities will you be doing? Are you hiking? Going to a wedding? Going out to a fancy dinner, or just a cozy weekend in the north woods? Start with the clothing you need for the big events & work out the rest from there.
Will you be able to wash your clothes at some point? Do you spill often? No judgment, just an honest thing to think about that might impact how many items you pack.
This sounds superficial, but I think it does impact how you pack. Are you going with a super casual group, like family members that don’t really care what you wear? Or, are you going with your most fashionable group of girlfriends and will be doing cute picture-worthy things?
If you’re still overwhelmed, I have a vacation packing service where I can help you pack (in-person or virtually). You can find out more information here.
P.s. I absolutely SWEAR BY using packing cubes (affiliate link) to keep everything organized (and honestly I feel like you can fit more in with them!). I love that they have different sizes that come together in a pack and the cubes have mesh tops so you can easily see what you have in each one.
