I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
A style session I had with a client recently was a perfect example of how you DON’T need to spend a lot of money to upgrade your wardrobe.
As we were initially going through her closet, we pulled out a few things that were outdated that could be donated. We also started making a list of items that needed an upgrade, or items she could add to fill a few gaps in her wardrobe.
Then, we started making a bunch of different outfit combinations with the items she already owned – including a few outfits that were a little outside of her comfort zone, but in a way that still feels really true to her personal style!
She had a few things that she hadn’t worn in a while because she wasn’t sure how to wear them. So, we styled those into a few different outfit combinations! She also had a fun orange dress that she wanted to get rid of because it felt “too young” – but when I had her try it on, we found a way to style it in a way that felt age appropriate and stylish!
This client is an avid thrifter (woman after my own heart!!) so she took the list we made & stuck it in her purse. Now every time she stops in a thrift store, she has a list to reference so that she knows what items she needs and can focus on finding those items. This way, she doesn’t have to invest a ton of money, but she knows what items to look for to increase the versatility of her wardrobe!
