I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
My most asked question when it comes to thrifting: how do you get so lucky?! 🧐
Y’all it isn’t luck, it’s WORK. But I do have a few tricks – 1 of which is just picking a rack and committing to it. And by that I mean I look through EVERY SINGLE ITEM on a rack, regardless of size.
I know it sounds tedious, but it works.👏🏻 Sometimes things are put back in the wrong size section, some are put in the wrong category…you never know what you might find! Also, sometimes sizing varies between brands or time periods. I recently got a size 14 vintage blazer, even though I’m regularly a size 8. If I hadn’t looked at the whole rack, I would have missed it!
Another tip is that you really should be in an energetic, good mood when you go thrifting, for the best chance of success. No joke! Eat a snack right before if you need to 😉 I’m not kidding, thrifting can be very tiring as you stand there and page through every item on a rack.
Writing this has got me itching to go thrifting again…I love to hear about other people’s thrifting finds – send me a DM if you find something amazing!!!
