I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing a complete closet organizational overhaul for Brooke.
When you have a lot of closet space & not much of a plan of how it can be organized, it can be a really daunting project to start. So in order to start with a blank slate, we took EVERYTHING out of her closet. Every last piece came out and was placed in her room.
We then went topic by topic: first Brooke went through each pile & determined which items were staying and which were being donated/sold. Then, I determined the best spot for each item to be in the closet & folded or hung them.
The biggest key takeaway in regards to her closet organization was placing the items in logical locations. Instead of having her pants down on the bottom shelf, I folded them to put them right at eye level. Items that are only worn for certain events (skiing trips, Arizona) were put up on high shelves.
Brooke has a lot of leggings & wears them nearly every day. It can be hard to keep a legging pile looking tidy – so we put them in a drawer folded vertically, so that she could easily see them & grab the ones she needs quickly.
Before & after pictures are my FAV, so here are the before & afters for Brooke’s closet cleanout. If your closet is looking a little more like the “befores” and a little less like the “afters”, fill out the contact form on my website & we can set up a closet clean out session!
