I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
Unpopular opinion: I love moving. Packing, unpacking, re-decorating, everything. I realized this after moving back & forth to Illinois for college, and moving my sister back & forth to Indiana for college. There’s just something about it that so perfectly combines my love for organization, my spatial sense for packing things efficiently, and my love for decorating.
So, when my friend was moving into a new apartment and asked for my help, I said YES PLEASE!
We met at her new apartment just as the movers were dropping off all her furniture & boxes. I helped her decide where to place some of the bigger furniture options, keeping in mind how they would work within the whole scheme of the apartment.
Then we started unpacking her boxes, separating the items by subject: pillows, décor, kitchen stuff, closet stuff. We then took it room by room, getting each room set up fully before moving to the next. Being able to see one room come fully together before moving on really helped us see the progress throughout the day!
In her last apartment, I had helped her find some new décor. But with a completely different layout in her new apartment (plus 300 more square feet!), you essentially start from scratch on where to put the décor. Plus, she had a few new décor pieces that she wanted to incorporate into the new layout as well.
As we looked at the décor she had, we discussed which theme each room would have: the piano area would be black/gold theme, the living room area had a pineapple/Hawaiian theme, and her bedroom would be neutral colors. That really streamlined the decorating process!
And then we got to my FAVORITE room to work on in a client’s home: the closet! She has WAY more closet space than her last place, so we were able to make sure everything was on hangers and separated by topic. AND, she had enough shelves left that I decided to display her shoes on the shelves instead of burying them in a bin under her bed. We were also able to attach her mirror to the wall inside her closet, so that she can play around with outfits right in her closet space.
Within the span of a few hours, we had her fully unpacked & her apartment fully decorated. She now has an organized space that she loves and works for her, with no added cost!
