I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
Why is it that picking out an outfit for family pictures is SO HARD?! My advice: start with YOUR outfit, and then plan your family members around that. Here are 6 quick outfit ideas that can inspire your look!
I have them formatted in outfit “formulas” so that you can easily translate the outfit idea to your actual wardrobe.

You could use a pullover sweater, or a cropped cardigan like I did.
I just got this black cardigan from Old Navy, and LOVE IT. It’s chunky without being overwhelming, and is a great length to be able to front-tuck into jeans, or wear over a dress.
Midi dress or maxi dress, both would fit the fall vibe! Adding the hat was an easy way to take this outfit up a notch.
The dress I’m wearing is from Old Navy last year, but they have the same silhouette dress in different patterns this year, you can find them here.
My favorite wide brim hats have all been from Target recently. Right now they have some great color options of this felt hat.
I mean how much more “fall” can you get than a flannel?! It would be fun to add a wide brim hat as well.
I just got this cropped flannel at Forever 21, and love that the length of it is different than the other flannels I have.
Duster cardigans are a perfect fall piece. Bonus: they are figure-flattering, creating long lines that draw the eye away from your midsection.
This one is from EVEREVE a few years ago. Old Navy has some great long cardigans right now.
This is a great option if you’re wanting something uber comfy. Also serves to disguise the midsection if that’s something you’re wanting to do!
Target has some great options – like how cute is this moss green one?!
There is a lot of flexibility within this outfit idea. Any fall colored blouse would be a great option! And remember: it’s easiest to start with YOUR outfit, and work around that for your other family members (because women are generally pickier about what they want to wear, am I right?! It will make the whole process a lot smoother).
I got so excited when putting together these outfits, and super inspired to kick my fall fashion game into full gear! Which outfit idea is your favorite?!
