I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
Recently, my brand & website designer Suu reached out asking if we could do a personal shopping session specifically focused on DENIM. She was in the market for some new jeans that fit her well and work for her body type. When we chatted, she also said she was interested in possibly trying a new silhouette (for her), straight leg denim!
I had her meet me at the Mall of America, since there are so many stores there that sell denim in various price ranges. We started at Abercrombie & Fitch, because they have a wide variety of denim styles and sizes that work for a variety of body types. FYI Abercrombie’s “Curve Love” denim line is SO GOOD – I say this from personal experience too!!
Suu came in to the session thinking she was a certain size. But once she tried things on, we realized she is actually a size smaller than she thought! We talked about ways to tell if denim fits your body well – how it should fit around the zipper, what pocket placement should look like on her body type, etc. We ended up finding 2 pairs: 1 straight leg pair, and 1 relaxed skinny. These 2 pairs will last her for years, are super versatile, and can be worn all year round!
Plus, since we were able to so quickly find the perfect jeans for her, we got to spend a little time searching for a dress for her upcoming trip to Vegas as well.
Shopping for jeans can be a nightmare…but not if you have someone helping you efficiently find the best silhouettes for your body type. Think of it like shopping with your bestie, who will tell you which jeans make your booty look good and help you make those difficult shopping decisions!
