I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
I just got this blouse as a hand-me-down from my 94-year-old grandma 🤯
She is always cleaning out her closet – it’s almost like she’s reading my posts & watching my Instagram stories, yet she’s never had internet in her life haha. Whenever we visit her, she has a few items for my sister & I to try. Many times the items look like they were owned by a 94 year old grandma (lol) but other times the items have some potential !!
This blouse had shoulder pads which made it feel a bit outdated. But with the fun pleat details & it being black (totally within my personal style) – I wanted to see if I could make it work! So I cut out the shoulder pads & styled it in a more “modern” way with distressed straight leg jeans & heels. 👍🏼
So this is my encouragement to you: don’t turn up your nose at clothes that come from *unlikely sources*. If your friend/mom/grandma is getting rid of some clothes, HAVE AN OPEN MIND and GET CREATIVE.
