I'm a stylist, nanny, and figure skating coach. After graduating from college and working in the fashion retail industry for several years, 2020 was the year I took my passion for style and turned it into a business! I love DIY home projects and I’m equally comfortable operating a power saw or picking out the perfect pair of shoes. I'm extremely close with my family and they are frequently recipients of my solicited (or unsolicited) fashion advice.
As the seasons changed, my client Tori wanted to do a little closet refresh and clean out. Not only did we got through the clothes she had in her closet, but also the load of winter stuff she had just picked up from her parent’s house!
We started by going through her clothes category by category, pulling out anything she hadn’t worn recently, and noting which items she’s like, “I like that, but I don’t know how to wear it”. This way we were able to see anything she had duplicates of (like 10 gray sweaters!) and make decisions about which ones she wears the most.
After we had gone through her whole closet, we worked on styling some outfits. She’d found herself getting in a rut style-wise for work, and wanted to have a little FUN with her work outfits again. I don’t want her closet to feel separated by work vs. play, the goal is to have the pieces in her closet be versatile for all the different areas of her life. For example: she has a bunch of blazers in her closet, so we worked on a bunch of outfits with those that could be work appropriate, or cute for a date night.
I had her try on the outfits we styled so that she could practice the little tricks (cuffing, tucking, etc.) on her own. And then I took pictures of the outfits so that she has something to easily reference as she’s getting dressed this fall/winter!
She also had a few pieces that she LOVED but didn’t feel confident in ways to style them (a few still had tags from last year!!), so we worked on a few outfits with those pieces. The next week she wore one of the pieces we styled to a night out with friends – I LOVE getting to see the outfits we style in action!
After her session I sent her a session recap guide with the styling tips we talked about, and all her outfit pics!
